Eco-friendly Table Decoration

  I'm always up for a challenge.  You know, the good, creative kind, not the crazy-making bad kind.  One of those challenges I love is elegant table decoration in an eco-friendly way.

 

This monogram is removable!  It's painted on with an ink that will clean off with a vinegar-based glass cleaner.

The vase is 2-1/2 feet tall and comes from Barclay Event Rentals.  At that great height I can easily see this being a table number as well.  The removable ink comes in a myriad of colors, it's so easy to match your decor!

Art Nouveau

I've been reminiscing about what a wonderful summer I had.  One of the highlights (there were so many!) was a class I took from Jean Formo at the International Calligraphy Conference.  It was called "Organically Yours...Drawn Letters from Art Nouveau."  It was such a wonderful class!

We started working with the "whiplash line" of Art Nouveau...

  

and then applied it to various styles of letters using graphite & colored pencil...

 

and then period colors and brought everything together...

 

One more piece I did in the class was a monogram for myself...

  

Most Creative Use of a Monogram Goes To ...

... Andrea Hoyt of August Veils!  Andrea contacted me for a monogram she wanted to incorporate on a bride's veil, in crystals!  The couple's initials are R and S.  Here's a photo of the veil-in-progress. 

 After the wedding, the bride's plan is to cut out the monogram and mount it over their first baby's crib.  It feels wonderful to know my work is now going to be part of a heartwarming family tradition!
